Can my client use the InfaSecure Securap or similar item?
The InfaSecure Securap is an older item that was designed to wrap around a child’s shoulder harnesses to help prevent a child from getting their arms out of the harness system. This product wasn’t exclusively distributed through Infa-Secure and you may have noticed other branded ones pop up from time to time.
Although the product is now retired from Infa-Secure, it wasn’t retired due to any safety issue and can continued to be used by the client – however if your client has just purchased this item brand new now, then the chances are slim that it is one from the Infa Secure branding which means it most likely is an import – and therefore potentially not the same. See this article here: Dangers of Imported Products
Official response from InfaSecure:
- Yes the Securap can still be utilised, but it is no longer distributed or support by InfaSecure. If your client still has one then there is no reason why they cannot continue use if they choose – the product was not removed because of any known safety issue
- The product must be used in forward facing only
