Can I refuse an installation?
This article is a guide for members, discussing their freedoms and responsibilities in regards to installation scenarios that can be a little different to the norm.
The short answer is “Yes”; and there are many scenarios where you should decline an installation – in fact any installation where the client requires you to compromises yours, Australian Standards or ACRI’s values should be politely declined.
“In fact you have the responsibility to ascertain any potential risks involved with an installation, and politely decline any that don’t pass your requirements.”

- There are good ways to present this to your client – you can be so right, but so wrong about being right 😅
- Freedom is one of ACRI’s values;
- Both for the client – to make their own decisions in regards to how they best travel with their children, better to teach them than to “restrict” them on our terms
- And for you – To innovate, create and problem solve challenges. This key value has been embraced by members and facilitated some incredible new technologies, strategies and slogans that have been a major benefit to our communities. You also need the freedom in your organisation to develop maturity that will;
- See the best results for your business financially
- Protect your business’s interests and reputation
- Develop long lasting relationships with your clients
- Allow you to be amazing individuals, and train amazing staff that hold the same values as you. How you do this is up to you, we’ll help you for sure with guidelines, tips and tricks, support and tools but we will never dictate your deployment
We take this approach because we want to encourage you, and provide a place of freedom that fosters innovation – for example one of our awesome members in WA created, and patented the “Lockie” clip, now sold by InfaSecure because they saw a need, found an awesome solution and got to deploy it for the benefit of all of us! It was so fun for us to even be a small part of that! This is an example of what the membership can be like – You see a problem that prevents an installation process, and people working together to find a solution that everyone benefits from 😊
