Can I recommend a Piddle Pad or equivalent?

This question was asked during our first Engineer’s Q&A with Andy Beaumont, ACRI’s representative to the Australian Standards committee – Here is how Andy responded:
Q: Can I recommend our customers use a “Piddle Pad”, they are sold through Infa Secure but should ACRI members recommend them?
Andy B: “Piddle Pads are an accessory and only approved by Infa for use on Infa products, so it’s OK to recommend them for Infa products. However, Infa say it is designed to conform to the accessories standard (AS8005) but does not appear to be approved to this standard as yet. If the piddle pad instructions don’t state (and name) they fit other manufacturers child restraints, then they are probably not tested or approved for them. As far as I am aware, if it has not been tested and proven to be safe for use on non-Infa products, then the stance is that you should not recommend it.”
