Myth: ISOFix is the best fitment method

Estimated reading: 1 minute

Many clients have the impression that ISOfix is the safest method of fitment, this is not the case – in fact a wise Founding Member, Rob Newman, puts it this way; “There is no perfectly safe travel environment! Our role is to do the best, in context, with what we have presented to us.”   The reality is that ISOFix fitments are tested to a much lighter weight than a vehicles seat belt which could be holding a 120kg man traveling at 110km/hr.  This statement also doesn’t mean that a traditional seat belt method is the best fitment for every scenario, but it does show that we have the freedom to decide which fitment method best suits the scenario we are presented with.  Many of the problems technicians face are from the way we communicate our decisions to the client – this is another reminder to listen to your client first and afterwards be wise in explaining the “why’s”.
