National Road Rules

Do I legally have to use ISOfix if it’s available?

Estimated reading: 1 minute

The road rules, particularly between different states and training programs, can sometimes be a little curly to deal with – not to mention the mountain of myths that keep getting perpetuated even from organisations with some input into this industry, so it’s not surprising that these questions come up regularly.

Short Answer: No – It’s a myth, it’s at your discretion.

Best Practice: You, as the child safety seat technician, are required to analyse which method is best suited considering the safety seat, vehicle, child, and family circumstances – and communicating the rational, and best practices to your client.  Either the traditional seat belt, or ISOfix methods are appropriate methods to utilise for an installation, but not both at the same time (Click here for more).

Myth #2: Many clients have the impression that ISOfix is the safest method of fitment, this is not the case.  Click here to see the article.
