How do I tell if a safety seat meets Australian standards?
Ok – This is a super simple question. The tag you are looking for is the “AS/NZS 1754” and will look like the one pictured to the left and will be compliant with the 2004, 2010, or 2013 version. This standards label will appear on both the seat, as well as in the manual and on the packaging if it’s a new seat.
Side Note: There may be a “date” next to the sticker, or perhaps even looking like it’s on the standards label – this will be the year version of the standards that the seat complies with…not the DOM (Date Of Manufacture)
Before deciding to fit or work on a seat, you’ll also need to check for some other things like if the unit is still an acceptable age, upper tether condition, harness adjuster functions correctly, etc.
