Toyota HiLux 2013-2014 Owners Manual
Dual cabs at that stage didn’t have to comply with the ADR to include anchor points as they were commercial vehicles, not intended for child transport. While really this shouldn’t be an excuse, the Australian models of these commercial vehicles weren’t required to comply. It’s changed now so the newer ones should (We use that loosely as well) include anchor points along with clearly labeled information both in the owners manual and on their anchor point locations.
If your HiLux does have anchor point’s they may be located here;
The rear bench seat should lift up, rather than the back fold down, there is a small plastic plug on either side in the floor that requires removing to reveal the anchor point location. It sometimes looks like a plastic Philips head screw, or a flat head screw that you can unscrew or a plastic trim that you pull out.
They can be a little tricky to see, and to be honest sometimes have taken a few minutes to find. If there is, then this is your anchor point and you can easily put a standard Anchor Bolt Kit onto this thread.
Tip: You can use a paint roller, without the pad to tension a forward facing seat that has the adjuster in an awkward position, dangling just out of finger tensioning reach.
Tip 2: If you are installing multiple seats in the one go, you must engage all upper tethers to the anchor bolt kit first before you perform any fitting
Tip 3: Using a wooden block/wedge you can pop that under the seat’s hinge to support the bench seat while you attach your tether to the anchor bolt kit. This tip is incredibly helpful.
